Our programs are broadcast on:
- The vhatv satellite network
- C-Band - Galaxy 3C (located at 95 degrees). Our channel assignments change - so specific transponder/channel information will be provided after you register for a program. No decoder is required to view the program on C-band - it will be broadcast "in the clear"
If you are an HSTN, LTCN, JCSN or PRIMEDIA Healthcare Network / psychLINK channel subscriber, you will be able to receive the broadcast using your normal PowerVU satellite receiver – but not all networks will receive the program automatically. While our programs are not JCSN or PRIMEDIA Healthcare Network / psychLINK channel programs, our programs are normally broadcast on the channel that is used for these networks (00002) and you should be able to receive the program automatically. Refer to the program materials page for specific details about each broadcast.
Some of our programs are carried on the HSTN and/or LTCN networks (see detailed technical information after you register for a specific program). If the program is not being carried on the HSTN or LTCN network and you are a subscriber to one of these networks, you can still view our program by doing one of the following:
- You can call in advance (800-688-8421) and request your satellite receiver be moved to the channel for the broadcast
- You can call in during the test time (800-688-8421) and request your satellite receiver be moved to the channel for the broadcast
- You can change the channel yourself if you are familiar with the PowerVu receiver. While watching the output of your PowerVu receiver, press the down arrow button repeatedly until the channel number in the upper left corner of the TV screen shows 00002 (if we are scheduled to be on a different channel, that will be noted on the program materials page for the specific broadcast). If the test time has started, you should be receiving the signal now - it's not encrypted and your receiver would not need to be authorized to view our program. At the end of the program, repeat the process - but this time press the up arrow key until channel 00005 (HSTN) or channel 00006 (LTCN) is displayed. The PowerVu receiver will take a couple of seconds to re-authorize, and your normally scheduled program will appear. Please call 800-688-8421 if you experience any problems
Our test signal consists of ten (10) minutes of scenery and music, followed by the current FDA Patient Safety News program (15 minutes long) and then a five (5) minute count down to the start of the program.
